The Story Behind Post Construction Cleaners

How one guy with a work truck and a lot of drive built one of LA's most trusted cleaning companies.

Meet Hanniel Catalan

If you called Post Construction Cleaners LLC right now, there is a real chance Hanniel Catalan himself would pick up the phone. Not a receptionist. Not an automated menu. The actual owner of the company, probably driving between job sites somewhere in the San Fernando Valley with his windows down and a half-finished coffee in the cupholder.

That is how this company has always worked. Hanniel started it, Hanniel runs it, and Hanniel is still on the ground making sure every single job gets done right. He does not sit in an office and manage spreadsheets. He shows up. He walks the sites. He talks to contractors, property managers, and homeowners face to face.

This page is not a corporate "About Us" written by a marketing agency. It is the actual story of how one person went from working construction job sites to building a cleaning company that now serves the entire Los Angeles metro area.

How We Got Here

Early 2010s

The Construction Years

Hanniel grew up around job sites. His family had roots in contracting and construction, and he learned early what hard physical work actually looks like. Not the motivational poster version. The kind where you are hauling debris at 6 AM in August heat, covered in drywall dust, and your back hurts before lunch.

He spent years working in general contracting across Los Angeles. Framing. Demolition. Rough carpentry. He understood every phase of a construction project from the inside out.

The Problem He Kept Seeing

The Cleanup Was Always the Weak Link

On almost every project, the construction work itself was solid. But then the cleanup crew would do a half-job. Dust on window tracks. Paint splatter nobody scraped off. Cabinets with drywall powder inside because the crew just wiped the fronts and called it done. Hanniel watched GCs get chewed out by homeowners over cleanup that was not even their fault.

He kept thinking: "I could do this better. I know what these sites actually need because I have been building them."

The Beginning

Starting PCC With One Truck

Hanniel did not launch with investors or a business plan. He started with his own truck, his own equipment, and the phone numbers of contractors he had worked alongside for years. He called them up and said: "When your next project wraps, let me handle the final clean. If you are not happy, do not pay me."

The first few jobs were just him. One person, a HEPA vacuum, buckets, scrapers, and a lot of hours. He got paid. And more importantly, the contractors called again.

Growing the Crew

Hiring People Who Give a Damn

When Hanniel started hiring, he pulled from the same construction network he came from. His rule was simple: if you would not let your own family move into the space you just cleaned, you are not done yet. That is still the standard today.

Today

12 Cities. Hundreds of Jobs. Same Guy Running It.

PCC now operates across 12 cities in greater Los Angeles. Hanniel answers the phone. Hanniel gives the estimates. Hanniel checks the work. The company grew, but he did not hand it off and disappear. That is not why he started this.

Why a construction background matters for professional cleaning

Why a Construction Background Matters

Most cleaning companies hire people who know how to clean houses. That works fine for regular cleaning. But post-construction is a completely different job, and most companies do not understand the difference until they are standing in front of an angry homeowner wondering why there is still dust coming out of the HVAC vents.

Hanniel knows where dust hides because he knows how it gets there. Drywall sanding on the second floor sends fine particulate through every vent. Paint crews leave overspray on glass you cannot see until sunlight hits it. Tile grout haze will not come off with Windex.

When PCC shows up to a post-construction clean, we are not guessing. We already know. That is the difference.

What Actually Makes Us Different

Every cleaning company says they are "the best." Here is what we actually do differently.

Owner-Operated. Not Franchised.

There is no corporate office. Hanniel owns this company, runs it, and is accountable for every job. When a contractor calls at 8 PM, they are calling Hanniel directly.

We Come From Construction.

Our founder and senior crew members have backgrounds in general contracting. We understand how buildings are put together, which means we understand what the cleanup actually requires.

Same Crew. Every Time.

If you are a recurring client, you get the same crew on every visit. They learn your place, know your preferences, and do not need to be told things twice.

We Show Up. Period.

If we say 7 AM, we are there at 7 AM. In this industry, that alone is a competitive advantage. GCs know: if PCC is on the schedule, the cleanup will happen.

Why Hanniel Still Does This Every Day

He could have hired a manager, stepped back, and collected checks. But he does not want to. He genuinely finds satisfaction in walking into a destroyed construction site at 7 AM and walking out at 5 PM knowing the space is completely clean.

The look on a homeowner's face when they walk into their brand new kitchen for the first time and everything is spotless? That never gets old for him.

Construction is a tough business. Timelines slip. Budgets blow up. Subcontractors ghost. Hanniel's entire approach is to be the one thing on the project that just works. You call, you schedule, and it gets done. No drama.

Why Hanniel Catalan is still hands-on with every cleaning job
Post Construction Cleaners expanding from post-construction to full-service cleaning

From Post-Construction to Full-Service

PCC started as a post-construction cleaning company. But once you build a reputation for showing up and not cutting corners, people start asking you to do more.

A contractor said "Can you handle Airbnb turnovers?" A property manager asked "Can you do move-out cleans?" Recurring clients said "Just come every two weeks." Every service we added came from a real client asking for it.

Today PCC handles post-construction, deep cleaning, Airbnb turnovers, move-in/out, regular cleaning, office cleaning, and condo cleaning.

What We Believe In

Hanniel does not have this written on a plaque. But the people who work with him know these things to be true:

1

Do not promise what you cannot deliver.

If a timeline is unrealistic, Hanniel says so upfront. Honesty on the front end is worth more than managing a crisis on the back end.

2

The last 10% is what separates you.

Window tracks, cabinet hinges, inside the oven, tops of door frames. The stuff nobody sees until they do. That is where PCC earns its reputation.

3

Treat other people's property better than your own.

You do not drag equipment across hardwood. You do not leave residue on stone. You treat every surface like it would come out of your paycheck if damaged.

4

Pick up the phone.

When a contractor texts on a Saturday night about a Monday morning clean, someone responds. There is no "business hours" for emergencies in construction.

An Honest Conversation About Our Industry

The cleaning industry in Los Angeles is messy. Not the "dusty floors" kind. The "half the companies on Google are unlicensed, uninsured, and paying their crews cash" kind.

Hanniel built PCC the right way from day one. Licensed. Insured with full commercial general liability. It costs more to operate this way, but when a marble floor gets scratched or a crew member has an accident, insurance is the difference between a phone call and a lawsuit.

We will never be the cheapest. There will always be a guy in a minivan who will do it for less. What we compete on: the job gets done correctly, on time, by people who are trained.
